Letter from Mrs. Daisy Barocio to the Guadalupe Elementary School Community

Hello Guadalupe Community,

As summer approaches, the excitement grows! I am excited to be joining the Guadalupe community. I hold this opportunity as a great privilege and responsibility. I have over 11 years of school leadership whether as a principal or director. I have taught or been a substitute in nearly every grade from transitional kindergarten to high school. I do not shy away from an opportunity to learn and strengthen my craft. This also makes me knowledgeable and appreciative of all the work that goes into creating a learning environment that is respectful, warm, academically rigorous, and innovative. I know everyone within a school community is instrumental in the success of all students.

I will also recognize the importance of building upon the legacy of all others who have served the Guadalupe community. I have great respect for the institutional history and knowledge many of you have and look forward to learning about how it can be built upon to ensure a smooth transition. I commit to listening and growing together. I will be making myself available in a variety of ways to learn about the Guadalupe community, and the vision you all hold for it.

Please expect collaboration and partnership from me. I am mission-driven and truly want to ensure that all next steps are taken with great care, intentionality, and a joyous spirit. The words that stood out and resonated with me when learning about Union School District were: a future of achievement, innovation, and inspiration. As our world continues to evolve we need to adjust accordingly to ensure that all students are prepared to be the creators and innovators who can anticipate and address the challenges of the future while leveraging the opportunities as they arise. I know that together we can continue to provide a foundation of excellence for all Guadalupe students, and I cannot wait to meet you all in person.

Lastly, you should know that this Stanford lady will proudly wear the blue and gold while rocking her grizzly gear. A feat that my husband has been unable to accomplish for over the last 16 years. Go Grizzlies! Now, come college football season my cardinal gear will be making appearances again.

Enjoy your summer, and I look forward to getting to know each other.
