Overview

Guadalupe has partnered with the county of Santa Clara to implement Walk and Roll to school days. We encourage students to either walk or ride a bicycle to school. Walking and bicycling helps decrease traffic congestion and promote a healthy lifestyle for your child(ren).

Participation in the walk and roll program

Would you like your classroom to win the walk and roll trophy and receive some delicious smoothies for the whole class? Earn any of the individual prizes. Become Walk and Roll participant of the month for your grade!

Here is how you can participate:

  •  Walk, bike or scooter to school in the morning

  •  Walk, bike or scooter home in the afternoon

  •  Carpool to school or home, 3 or more children per car that are attending Guadalupe

    Elementary

  •  Participate in the mileage club before school

Does your child participate in any of the above frequently or just once a week?

We will track this participation in the Walk to School program with barcodes. Every morning before school and in the afternoon when school is out, there will be an adult at the flag pole scanning your child’s QR code with a cell phone. In order for your child to participate we need you to return the permission slip, see below. We will provide him/her with a QR code, on a laminated card that can be attached to his or her backpack with a key ring. These will be distributed through the teacher.

We will start the program in October and have a trial run the last week of September.

It’s never too late to join just fill in the permission slip and return to the office. You can print the permission slip from home or obtain one in the office.
