Welcome to 2nd grade! My name is Ellen Mapes. My husband and I have two children. Our daughter Hannah will be starting college at Chico State in fall 2017, and our son is a junior at Leigh High School. Both kids are alumni of Guadalupe Elementary School. I grew up in Southern California and attended college at UCSB. After getting my credential, I have taught various grades from first through fourth for 15 years, with a break in the middle to travel around the world and another long one to raise my children at home. I teach because it's exciting to see the progress made by kids each year, and I love to be a part of that. I also really enjoy the connections made with each student. This makes every year different and interesting! I look forward to meeting all of you in the fall! Together we will go far!
